Drama in the Courtroom: Former Mayor Cathe Wilson Collapses upon Hearing Sentence
By Terry Miller
Former Temple City mayor Cathe Wilson was sentenced Thursday to four years in state prison on bribery and perjury charges , closing the books on a dramatic couple of years in Temple City history
But prosecutors depicted Wilson as a ringleader in the city’s largest corruption case and said she should not be spared prison.
Deputy DA Sean Hassett asked the court for four years and restitution.
“I don’t know how else to describe it except callous greed,” Superior Court Judge Alex Ricciardulli said during the sentencing at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. “She torpedoed a $75 million project that would have greatly benefited the residents of Temple City.”
Wilson’s attorney then said he felt that probation was by far the best option for his client.
A visibly nervous , frightened and shaking Wilson, 78, wiped tears from her eyes as Ricciardulli read the sentence.
Wilson then screamed and the courtroom became suddenly silent. The convicted former mayor yelled “No”…. “I can’t breathe”, and slumped back in her chair appearing to pass out. The Judge removed himself from the courtroom.
Sheriff’s deputies immediately cleared the courtroom to attend to Wilson’s medical condition.. Wilson was taken by ambulance accompanied by sheriff’s deputies to county hospital. Reports of a stroke have not been confirmed.
Wilson was also ordered to pay more than $10,000 in restitution to developer Randy Wang.
“On her behalf I apologize to the residents,” Wilson’s attorney told the court.
Assistant DA Sean Hassett said he felt the sentence appropriate after weighing all the evidence
On May 2, Wilson was convicted of receiving about $10,000 in cash and other bribes from Jay Liyanage in 2005-06 and subsequently lying about it.
Justice served! They should take this thing straight to Jail.
Finally! What about the others involved in the corruption of Temple City, The Bridal Shops, Sheriffs, The rest of Ciity Hall, City Council, which has been going on for the past 20 years. Bribes, Legal prostitution through most of the bridal shops when a particular video is asked for(which is a code) at particular video stores where another code is given for them to choose their girl, not dress, at the bridal shops. This is being allowed in much of the San Gabriel Valley.

You have to look like Lindsay to get away with it. Sorry — 50 years too late for her.
It’s not fair to compare her to Lindsay. The mayor took million dollar bribes and screwed over her jurisdiction because of greed. Lindsay partied too much and screwed up her acting career, was accused of petty theft and drinking/doing drugs.
Sorry! All out of pity!!
She will be spared the chain-gang prison life. Serve a quarter(maybe),of the sentence. And,
if she gets mentally challenged, she will go to Patton prison. Located right down the street from San Manuel Casino. What I think the sentence for public or city officials, who destroy a town together.
Should be is, haveing them appear in jail style attire, doing a lot of community service in the same town. Out in the view of the community. And, apologize to each resident door to door. And, serveing
the city hall as restroom clean-up person. To me, $10,000 is pocket change for the court to put our taxpayers money into Kathe Wilsons prison time. Kathe, I see your lawyer, ignore you, when the
sentence was told to you. He must have been paid already!!!
