TCUSD Superintendent Chelsea Kang-Smith presented Principal Kathy Perini with an Honor Roll Banner from California Business for Education Excellence.

“I’m very pleased to accept this award on behalf of Emperor’s students, parents, and staff,” announced Principal Perini.   “Emperor’s students, parents, and staff work together as a cohesive team to raise student achievement.”

“Emperor students and staff affirm that great success is happening in our District,” commented Dr. Kang-Smith.  “This is a testament to their hard work and relentless focus on student achievement.”

Emperor is one of 1,304 California public elementary, middle and high schools that are recognized by the business community for having consistent high student academic achievement and making significant progress toward closing the achievement gap. The Honor Roll focuses on achievement data over time and validates teachers’ hard work.

Using data, CBEE identifies and honors the highest performing public schools in California. These schools are being recognized not only for their achievements but so other schools can learn the successful strategies or “best practices” of these Honor Roll schools.

No other school recognition program in California uses hard data, individual school and student subgroup performance data based on the California Standards Tests, and the California High School Exit Exam to evaluate school academic performance.

Emperor Elementary is one of seven schools in the Temple City Unified School District and serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
